She Walks Alone
She lines up for her lunch with care, adds salad, trying not to stare.
A voice behind throws out the flame:
“Don’t take more, fat pizza-face.”
On Valentine’s, the class draws names,
a prank begins, cruel, harsh, and lame.
“A pig, not human,” someone sneers,
she hides her gift and holds back tears.
They laugh while she just looks away,
another cold and silent day.
She fades into the background noise,
too tired to fight, without a voice.
But she walks on, though all alone,
through halls that never felt like home.
She hides the ache, she hides the pain,
and whispers, “They won’t win again.”
Though bruised by words too sharp, too loud,
she stands up tall, apart from crowd.
The world may turn its face aside,
but she’s still here, with quiet pride.
She tries to join the girls at lunch,
but empty seats are filled as such.
“No space for you,” they coldly say,
she walks alone the other way.
She trails the group, they speed their pace,
then lock her out without a trace.
Their laughter stings, the circle tight,
she's left outside, alone in sight.
No more she begs to fit inside,
she stops the chase, she drops the stride.
She hides her hurt behind a wall,
but late at night, she feels it all.
She’s not the one they tried to break,
not just the girl they’d call a fake.
She dreams of days where she’ll belong,
new faces, hope, and friends as strong.
A final test, diploma day,
she turns and walks her own proud way.
And for the first time in two years,
her eyes are dry, her heart sincere.
The past behind, she lifts her face,
a softer world, a safer place.
