Soul's Cry
Through the mist, eternal night,
you have come, without a fright.
Hear the gravestones’ creaking tone?
Here all peace is long since gone.
I may lie in earth so deep,
but my soul shall never sleep.
Stop, O stranger, do not flee!
Hear the cry that comes from me!
I’m no phantom, not a dream,
I bring forth the law supreme!
Who disturbs my solemn rest,
shall find no more sleep or nest!
Wind is howling through the graves,
like a thousand ghostly waves.
Every stone still holds inside,
wrongs that time could never hide.
You have brought your light in vain,
there is no way back again.
Stop, O stranger, do not flee!
Hear the cry that comes from me!
I’m no phantom, not a dream,
I bring forth the law supreme!
Who disturbs my solemn rest,
shall find no more sleep or nest!
Tell the living of my moan,
never heed this cursed tone.
In this dark, no hope, no breath,
only centuries of death.
Turn away!
Do not stay!
All behind,
only shadows.
